Welcome to the Mountain Craft Shop Company, located in Proctor, West Virginia. Our products, collectively known as American Folk Toys, are reproductions of toys once made at home and handed down from one generation to another. Most of our toys are made of native hardwoods, such as poplar, walnut, cherry, beech, or maple. The toy names may sound strange like our Whimmy Diddle and Flipper Dinger, but they are the traditional names from years past.
Mountain Craft Shop Co. is in it's 46th year of the most fun business. Our products can be found at many national museums and state park gift shops such as...
Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA, Bunker Hill in Boston, MA. Appomattox Battle site in Appomattox, VA and The Smithsonian in Washington, DC
We can also be found throughout the year at various craft fairs and festivals such as...
The Mountain Heritage Arts and Craft Festival in Harpers Ferry, WV, The Bob Evans Farm Festival in Rio Grande, OH, and the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee in Weston, WV at the Historic Jacksons Mill.
Our sister company, ThistleDew Farm's Gift Shop, highlights all of our toys and is often a destination stop for tour buses and family outings. At our woodshop, folks can see us take logs and twigs and change them into toys. We are open Monday through Friday, 9 to 4, and some weekends from Noon to 3p.m. Please visit, but do call ahead.
As our web site is currently under some modifications we will in the near future offer on-line purchasing. In the meantime we have a catalog and order form available for download at the top of this page.
